A wonderful vintage Australian Ensign Flag dating circa 1930s.
The Australian Civil Ensign, or Australian Red Ensign, is simply a red version of the Australian National flag. It is for use only at sea and officially never on land, but can be used by private citizens. At sea, it is the only flag allowable for merchant ships registered in Australia under the Navigation and Shipping Act 1912.
A unusual find in the UK, this flag has a lovely time worn faded patina showing its history. It has one very small pin prick hole, no other holes or tears just some light some light surface wear and minimal stains. It has 'made in England' printed on to it and it is made of cotton. This only adds to its appeal in our opinion and shows it is not a reproduction.
